3. Debrief
One of my projects this year was Debrief, a student showcase celebrating each student’s journey across three design disciplines. In 2024, Debrief incorporated a cultural narrative as a central theme, challenging me to create a cohesive, impactful experience that honoured each student’s unique path. My role involved designing the floorplan, mapping out the spatial layout of frames, and developing a tukutuku-patterned wayfinding system that visually connected the exhibition with its cultural story.
This project presented plenty of challenges, including a two-week rebranding delay and adjustments to the tukutuku design, which meant parts of my project did not run as smoothly as intended. But doing so created a much more cohesive experience as a result.
Through collaboration, effective time management, and resourcefulness, I helped create an exhibition that celebrates student work in a visually engaging, culturally resonant environment. This project reinforced my belief in design’s power to foster connections and deliver meaningful, lasting experiences.
